Ukraine’s ambassador in London, Vadim Pristaiko, has welcomed the fact that the UK cares little about what Russia believes and confirmed that they will continue to receive armaments from their partner as long as the war continues.
«The UK does not care what Russia thinks (…) It did not ask anyone. It has its tanks and simply offered them to us,» Pristaiko said in an interview for the Ukrainian news portal Liga.net.
In this regard, he has stressed that unlike other countries, the UK was the first country to give the long-awaited tanks that Ukraine has been demanding from its partners. «All this was done in a calm and normal way,» he has said.
«The same will happen, believe me, with the missiles and all the other weapons we need. There will be a chance, there will be reservations,» but «UK will plan and give everything we need to win,» the ambassador has confided.
He acknowledged, however, that the possibility of receiving more tanks from the UK is not entirely clear, as the British stockpile of such tanks has been declining since the 1990s.
«At one point the world decided that tanks would no longer play an important role. Besides, the UK is not a continental country, its major armament is naval (…) Although, I don’t rule out that more tanks will appear,» he said.
Speaking of tanks, he questioned whether the British Challenger «will be put last» in favor of the German Leopard or the American Abrams, when in fact «it has the most accurate weapon with the longest range».
«This is what our Army needs to destroy Russian equipment at long range,» Pristaiko has stressed.
