El Bayern Múnich despide a Julian Nagelsmann
Bayern Munich, one of the most important teams in world soccer, has made the decision to fire its coach, the young and promising Julian Nagelsmann. Despite winning three titles in just under two seasons, the current campaign is not going so well for the Bavarian side, who are in second place in the Bundesliga and have suffered some unexpected defeats.
Young but very experienced
The career of young coach Julian Nagelsmann is an example of early success in the world of soccer. At the age of 35, he has already managed several top Bundesliga sides, including TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig before arriving on the Bayern Munich bench.
Debut at 28 years of age
Nagelsmann made his Bundesliga coaching debut at the age of 28, becoming the youngest coach in the history of the German league. Since then, he has left his mark on every team he has managed, with an innovative approach to soccer and an ability to work with young players. In his four seasons in charge of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, Nagelsmann led the team from the relegation zone to Champions League qualification. At RB Leipzig, meanwhile, he led the team to the Champions League semifinals in his first season as coach.
Three titles in two seasons
Nagelsmann’s success has not gone unnoticed by the Bundesliga’s top teams, and in 2021 he was hired by Bayern Munich. Although his time with the Bavarian side has been short, Nagelsmann left his mark on the club, guiding them to victory in three titles in less than two seasons: two German Supercups and one Bundesliga.
25 million euros
The young coach joined Bayern Munich in a transfer worth 25 million euros. Bayern Munich not only paid a large sum of money for Nagelsmann’s transfer, but also signed him to a five-year contract.
Uneven season in the Bundesliga, but steady in the Champions League
Bayern Munich has struggled to find consistency this season. Currently, the team is in second place in the Bundesliga, one point behind leaders Borussia Dortmund. Although Bayern Munich’s performance has been inconsistent in the league, the team has shown its quality in European competition. After beating the mighty Paris Saint-Germain in the round of 16, Bayern have qualified for the quarterfinals of the Champions League, where they will face another top team in Manchester City.
Thomas Tuchel, the replacement
To replace Nagelsmann, Bayern Munich has chosen the experienced Thomas Tuchel, German newspaper Bild has reported. Tuchel is a 49-year-old coach who has managed teams in Germany, France and England. His coaching career boasts a haul of 10 titles, including a German Cup with Borussia Dortmund, two French league titles with PSG, and a Champions League, European Super Cup and Club World Cup with Chelsea.
Their first match against Borussia Dortmund
Tuchel will sit on the Bayern Munich bench from April 1 and his first game will be against his former team, Borussia Dortmund, whom he managed between 2015 and 2017. Tuchel’s arrival at the Bavarian side has generated great expectation and it is hoped that he can lead Bayern Munich to regain their dominant position in the Bundesliga and fight for the Champions League.
