The former Prime Minister of Italy and leader of the Forza Italia party, Silvio Berlusconi, admitted the day before to an intensive care unit of a hospital in the city of Milan, has spent the first night «calm» and in «stable conditions».
Awaiting information
Although medical authorities have not yet updated Berlusconi’s state of health, his party colleague and foreign minister, Antonio Tajani, has said that the former prime minister is stable. A new assessment is expected to be released in the course of the morning.

According to a Forza Italia communiqué, Tajani and other colleagues have spoken by telephone with Berlusconi, who has asked them not to neglect their tasks, because «the country needs them».
Prompt recovery
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, as well as the leader of the group in the Chamber, Paolo Barelli, among others, have wished him a speedy recovery.
An infection
Later, before the microphones of the radio station RTL 102.5, Barelli assured that the former prime minister is facing an infection «of something he already had», and that he had to be hospitalized for tests. «In the next few hours we will be informed of the evolution,» he explained.
Do not go into details
Questioned about the rumors circulating that Berlusconi might have leukemia, Barelli preferred «not to go into specific details» and asked to avoid spreading this type of information, and to respect and show concern for Berlusconi, a politician «who leaves his mark with his activity».
St. Raphael Hospital
The former Italian prime minister and leader of Forza Italia is admitted to San Raffaele Hospital, where already on Wednesday he underwent tests for problems apparently stemming from a respiratory infection, reports the AdnKronos agency.
Recently hospitalized
Berlusconi, 86, was hospitalized between March 27 and 30 and declined to make any statements to the press upon leaving the medical center.
Other income in San Raffaele
He had already been hospitalized at this same center on other occasions, most recently in January 2022 for a urinary tract infection.

Despite his age and the several court cases he has been facing for years, Berlusconi remains a popular figure in Italy.

In fact, in the last elections he was able to return to elected office as a senator and his party is part of the current government coalition, headed by Giorgia Meloni.
