Graham Potter steps down as Chelsea manager
England manager Graham Potter ended his time at Chelsea on Sunday after just seven months in charge, following a 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday in the Premiership that kept the London side out of the European places.
Facilitating a smooth transition
«Chelsea FC announces that Graham Potter has left the club. Graham has agreed to work with the club to facilitate a smooth transition,» the English club said in an official statement close to midnight.
Undecimo in the Premier League
The ‘blue’ team is in eleventh place, 12 points behind the Champions League zone, and in 10 days they have the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid.
Bruno Saltor, interim replacement
Spaniard Bruno Saltor will take charge of Chelsea on an «interim» basis. Saltor was already an assistant at Chelsea.
Arrived to replace Thomas Tuchel
Potter, a former Brighton boss, arrived in London in September to replace Thomas Tuchel and, despite a million-dollar investment, has failed to revive a club that is once again taking an unexpected turn as the season heads into its final stretch.
A discrete balance
In Potter’s 31 games in charge of Chelsea, he has recorded 12 wins, eight draws and 11 defeats with 33 goals scored and 31 conceded.
