Aleksandar Mitrovic banned for eight games for shoving a referee
Fulham’s Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has been given an eight-match ban for his sending-off against Manchester United and his subsequent shove at the match official, but the FA has already warned that it intends to appeal on the grounds that it is insufficient.
Sent off with a straight red card
The 28-year-old international was shown a straight red card during the English Cup clash after shoving referee Chris Kavanagh.
Improper, abusive, insulting and threatening language».
The attacker was punished with three matches for the expulsion, another three for violent conduct towards the referee and two more for using «improper, abusive, insulting and threatening» language.
Top scorer of his team in the Premier League
Mitrovic, his team’s top scorer in the Premier League with eleven goals, has already served one match and must now miss the remaining seven, while his coach, Marco Silva, was suspended for two matches.
They will appeal the sanction
In any case, the FA indicated that it plans to appeal the punishments of both. «We note the independent regulatory commission’s decision to sanction Aleksandar Mitrovic and Marco Silva. Our current intention is to appeal both sanctions, however we will await written reasons before confirming our final position,» he stressed.
