Prince William pays surprise visit to British troops on Ukraine border
Prince William of Wales made a surprise visit to the Polish town of Rzeszow on Wednesday to personally thank UK and Polish troops for their support of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Visit kept secret
The visit was kept secret for security reasons until the British heir left the Polish military base where he met with Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak.
Praise for the troops
At the Rzeszow military base, Prince William praised the passion and determination shown by the troops to defend shared freedoms and extolled the response of the Polish population towards the Ukrainians.
Strategic logistics center
The Rzeszow military base is a strategic logistic center, as it receives a large part of the armament material supplied by the allied powers to be delivered to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Two-day visit
Prince William’s visit to Poland will last two days and will also include several meetings, such as a meeting with Polish President Andrzej Duda at the Presidential Palace in Warsaw, where the deep relationship between the two countries will be emphasized.
Solidarity
The aim of the trip, planned by the British Government, is to show the solidarity of the UK and the Crown with the troops supporting Ukraine.
Message to Russia
In addition, another objective of this visit is to send a message to Russia in the same week that Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Moscow.
