The Supreme Court on Monday gave the green light to a request by the House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, assault on the Capitol for Arizona Republican Party Chairwoman Kelli Ward’s phone company to turn over records on her and her husband, Michael Ward.
The brief note from the Supreme Court does not carry individual signatures of the justices, but conservative Justices Clearence Thomas and Samuel Alito had indicated their willingness to accept the Ward’s appeal of the subpoena.
The House investigative committee has requested the records from T-Mobile, the Ward’s company, for its involvement in the drafting and publication of a false electoral certificate of the 2020 presidential election in which Donald Trump appeared as the winner in this state that eventually went to Joe Biden.
According to the commission of inquiry there was a plot in several states to try to illegally flip the election result and guarantee Trump a new term in the White House. The Wards however allege that this is a politicized investigation.
