Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dimitro Kuleba has told that talks to deploy Patriot anti-missile systems «are proceeding at the speed of a tank», so we will have to wait.
«At every international meeting, at every contact with the United States, both the president, and the head of his office, and I, raise the issue of American tanks and the Patriot system,» said Kuleba, who, while stressing the «ease» of the dialogue, said it is proceeding at «the speed of a tank.»
«I would like it to move at the speed of an airplane, but (…) it will take time», explained the head of the Ukrainian diplomacy, who thanked the role of his Western partners, but especially of the United States in this whole conflict.
In recent weeks there has been speculation about the location where Germany could deploy the U.S.-made Patriot anti-missile system. The Polish authorities are in favor of placing it on the western border of Ukraine, although NATO stresses that Berlin will have the last word.
On the other hand, Kuleba has made it known that Ukraine has taken the decision to «act accordingly» against Tehran if it continues to supply arms to Moscow. «We are closely following every step of Iran in this military-technical cooperation with Russia. This cooperation must end immediately,» he has emphasized.
Kuleba has noted that depending on what Tehran’s final decision is, Kiev will observe it and respond accordingly as soon as possible. «Our signal was very clear (…) either they stop or they will face the most severe consequences (…) no matter what the benefits of cooperation with Russia are (…) the negative consequences will outweigh them any positive,» he has warned.
