The U.S. State Department on Friday confirmed the seventh shipment of weaponry and equipment to Ukraine worth $275 million (about 260.7 million euros), following an increase in Russian attacks on the country’s critical infrastructure.
The shipment is intended to provide Kiev with new capabilities to strengthen its air defenses and provide ammunition and defense equipment, according to an official statement.
With this new delivery, the aid provided by the United States to Ukraine amounts to 20 million dollars (about 18.9 million euros) since the beginning of the conflict last February.
In the letter, the United States expressed its intention to «continue to work closely» with more than 40 allies to support the people of Ukraine as they «defend their freedom and independence» for as long as necessary.
Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski has thanked the assistance package and the «continued leadership support» provided by the United States. «No terrorist rocket will stop our struggle for freedom. It is important that the American people stand with the Ukrainian people,» he said via Twitter.
