Peru’s Prime Minister Pedro Angulo called for dialogue on Monday after announcing that the government of Dina Boluarte will form a crisis cabinet to deal with the protests of demonstrators that have broken out in different parts of the country.
«We call on those people who are causing violence to desist from violence. We want dialogue: we open our arms to solve the problems that, we know, have not been solved before by the governments in office», he indicated, as reported by the Andina news agency.
For his part, the Minister of Defense, Alberto Otárola, assured that, «thanks to the Peruvian Armed Forces», the Arequipa airport «has recovered» after thousands of people had clashed inside its facilities.
«We are going to rise to the occasion. We are supporting the National Police, we are working 24 hours straight, without resting», he indicated, emphasizing, like the Prime Minister, a call for dialogue, according to the aforementioned agency.
The death toll from the protests has risen to four after a demonstrator died in the province of Chicheros, Andahuaylas, while another person died in Cerro Colorado, Arequipa, according to several local media, without official confirmation of these new deaths for the moment.
