The NGO World Vision is calling on the de facto authorities in Afghanistan to reverse their decision to close universities to women. The organization reminds that education is a right for all «regardless of gender».
«This decision does not benefit the people of Afghanistan. We are in the midst of one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world, and we need as many Afghans as possible – men and women, of all ages – to be educated and develop their skills. We must create the human capital that Afghanistan desperately needs to overcome the challenges we face today,» said Asuntha Charles, director of World Vision Afghanistan.
Charles said that «closing universities to women in Afghanistan risks holding back all of humanity,» which is why they are calling for a reversal.
