
The death toll from torrential rains and floods in recent days in the southern and eastern Philippines has risen to 25, officials confirmed Wednesday.
The Philippines’ National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said in its latest report, posted on its website, that 25 people have been confirmed dead and nine injured so far, while 26 others are still missing.
It also stressed that more than 393,000 people have been affected by the floods, which have damaged about 1,200 houses, 123 roads and twelve bridges in the country and caused loss of power supply in 63 localities.
On the other hand, he indicated that six localities are suffering water supply problems, while seven domestic flights have been suspended and 15 ports have had to stop operations due to the inclement weather.
