
The Philippine authorities reported Wednesday morning that the death toll from the floods recorded in recent days in the country has risen to 32 people.
In addition, a total of 24 people are missing and 11 people are injured, according to the daily report of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Relief Council (NDRRMC).
The floods have affected a total of 484,485 people residing in 10 provinces of the country, while 101,613 people have been evacuated from their homes. More than half of these are being sheltered in about 150 evacuation centers.
The report details that so far 4,068 houses have been reported damaged, while in terms of damage to affected infrastructure, mostly bridges, utility buildings and schools have been reported.
Due to the strong storm, classes and work have also been suspended in 67 cities, however, a state of emergency has only been declared in one of the regions.
Damage to agriculture and infrastructure was estimated at more than US$5.5 million (5.1 million euros), according to the agency.
