
The Peruvian Ministry of Health reported on Saturday that 36 people have been hospitalized since January 4 for injuries related to the protests against the ouster of former president Pedro Castillo.
Of the total number of hospitalized patients, 34 are in the Puno region, one in Arequipa and another in Apurímac, reports the official news agency, Andina.
The report also includes five medical discharges linked to these protests, two in Lima, one in Arequipa and one in Junín. All the patients are receiving permanent medical attention, the Ministry emphasized.
The Ministry reiterated its call for «social calm» and its commitment to attend to all those whose integrity is affected.
Peru’s Attorney General’s Office opened an investigation on Friday against Peru’s President, Dina Boluarte, as well as against three members of her Executive to clarify the death of 28 civilians during clashes between security forces and demonstrators during the protests that shook the country in December.
