Valdemar Costa Neto, president of former president Jair Bolsonaro’s Liberal Party, has distanced himself from the «shame» of the assault by the former president’s supporters on the headquarters of the Presidency, Congress and the Federal Supreme Court in Brasilia and called the day a «sad day for Brazil».
Costa Neto has published a video in which he assures that those responsible for this attack on institutions «do not represent» Bolsonaro.
«Today is a sad day for Brazil. All the acts we have done after the elections in front of the barracks have been an example of education, trust and Brazilianness,» the PL leader has pointed out.
«There were families representing Boslonaro, representing the right. That act today in Brasilia is a disgrace for all of us and does not represent our party or Bolsonaro,» he has argued.
For Costa Neto, «the police is security and these security sectors have to do their function.» «We do not support these acts. We do support ‘Homeland, family and freedom’. We support acts of good. That act today in Brasilia was a disgrace for all of us,» he insisted.
