Former U.S. President Donald Trump has assured that, should Florida Governor Ron DeSantis decide to run in the Republican Party primaries for the 2024 presidential election, he will deal with the matter as he «usually handles these things.»
«I’ve heard that he might run against me. So we’ll handle that the way I handle things,» Trump said in allusion to a hypothetical candidacy of DeSantis, who, despite rumors, has not yet made official his participation in the presidential race.
During an interview on the podcast of journalist David Brody, the former president has boasted of having been the one who supported DeSantis during the elections for governor of Florida, a position he has held since January 2019, when Trump was still president of the United States, collects the portal The Hill.
Although DeSantis has not confirmed his participation in the Republican primaries, there are many polls that profile him as the main contender to represent conservatives in the 2024 presidential election even ahead of Trump, who has officially filed his candidacy.
These polls against him have motivated the former president to publish his own demoscopic studies elaborated by McLaughlin & Associates -a collaborating company of his campaign in 2020- and that give him the victory against a hypothetical candidacy of DeSantis with 58 percent of the votes.
