Former UFC mixed martial arts fighter José Aldo has assured that the only reason why the former president of Brazil Jair Bolsonaro is staying at his mansion in Orlando, Florida, responds to a business matter. «I’m not thinking left or right,» he said.
«There are people who think very little and have no business vision,» said Aldo to criticize those who have attacked him for hosting Bolsonaro, who has been in the United States since December 30, thus avoiding having to participate in the inauguration ceremony of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
«Everyone on the opposing side has attacked me, but my move has nothing to do with that (…) I saw the business, I’m not thinking left or right, I’m thinking business, which is what the house is,» said Aldo, who rents the mansion for 2,600 reais a day (about 460 euros), according to Brazilian media.
The house where Bolsonaro resides, one of two that the now boxer has in the United States, has Disney-themed rooms. In one of them he plans to place a plaque reading ‘here was the president of Brazil’. «Everyone will want to see it, left or right,» he has revealed.
Aldo’s statements limiting his agreement with Bolsonaro to strictly economic matters contrast with the public support he has shown him in recent years, sharing photographs on social networks and even participating in an event during the campaign for the past elections in Sao Paulo.
On that occasion Aldo along with other fighters such as Maurício Rua and Fabrício Werdum, laughed at the jokes of a Bolsonaro who assured that President Lula had refused to debate with him because of an alleged problem of «sexual impotence».
