An earthquake of magnitude 6.5 on the Richter scale has shaken this Friday the northern province of Santiago del Estero, in Argentina, according to the National Institute of Seismic Prevention (INPRES).
The earthquake took place at 19.09 (local time) with epicenter in Santiago del Estero, capital of the homonymous province and head of the department Juan Francisco Borges, and has been recorded with a depth of more than 600 kilometers.
According to INPRES, the tremor was felt in the cities of San Miguel de Tucumán, San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca, La Rioja and Santiago del Estero. In a milder form, it was also felt in the city of Córdoba, in the northwest of the country.
So far, no injuries or material damage have been reported in any of the affected regions.
