The Ukrainian nuclear company Energoatom reported Monday that a number of permanent missions of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) are now operating at all Ukrainian nuclear power plants.
The Ukrainian entity has detailed on its Telegram channel that IAEA representatives have been arriving in the country over the past week and that specialists are already at the facilities of the Khmelnitsky nuclear power plant.
Thus, the IAEA already has personnel deployed in all the country’s nuclear power plants -Riven, Chernobyl, Khmelnitsky and South Ukraine-, according to Energoatom, which has left out of this list the Zaporiyia plant, under Russian control.
«The task of the missions is to maintain the nuclear and radiological safety of nuclear facilities in Ukraine at a time when Russia is committing real nuclear terrorism,» the Ukrainian nuclear company has detailed.
The IAEA’s decision to deploy personnel to all nuclear plants in the country comes in response to a request from the Ukrainian government, which felt that the results of the deployment in Zaporiyia of agency representatives warranted a request for a nationwide appeal.
