The government of Pakistan’s Sindh province will launch its first women-only bus in the metropolis of Karachi on February 1, officials announced Friday.
«The Sindh Transport department government is going to start Pakistan’s first bus service exclusively for women and girls,» the province’s Information Minister Sharjeel Inaam Memon announced on his Twitter account.
The move is aimed at «promoting gender equality and improving the travel experience of working women» in the country.
The new «pink line» will be the first urban and permanent route following a similar one-off inter-provincial initiative in Gilgit-Baltistan at the end of the year.
