The French authorities have reported that 83 migrants traveling in two boats bound for the United Kingdom have been rescued Sunday in the waters of the English Channel.
Coastguards have reported that they have rescued 54 people from one boat and 29 from another, when several small boats were trying to cross the channel.
The migrants have been transferred to the French port of Calais, where they have been treated by the emergency services, as at least one person has had to receive medical attention.
The UK Ministry of Defense reported earlier that at least 26 people had managed to reach British shores during the day on Saturday.
According to the balance sheet of the British portfolio, the total number of migrants who have arrived in the archipelago since the beginning of the year is 991 people.
