The company Meta, parent company of platforms such as Facebook or Instagram, has reinstated the accounts of former U.S. President Donald Trump on these social networks more than two years after his suspension for messages in support of the assault on the Capitol in January 2021.
This decision by Meta comes weeks after a historic announcement by Facebook confirming that the former president would regain access to his profile. At the moment Trump has not shared any new posts on either Facebook or Instagram.
Therefore, the last publication on Instagram is still the one he shared on January 5, in which he published a plan of the vicinity of the Capitol; while on Facebook his last message dates from the same January 6, when he called for respect for security agents. «We are the party of Law and Order,» he commented at the time.
The former president already regained access to his official Twitter profile last November after the platform’s CEO, Elon Musk, raised that possibility repeatedly. However, Trump has not posted anything since then either.
CNN has contacted a Trump advisor, who acknowledged that while the former president conducts his message more on Twitter than Facebook, it is likely that he uses both social networks to promote his candidacy for the 2024 presidential election by the Republican Party.
