The Tunisian judiciary arrested Monday Noureddine Bhiri, a member of the opposition Ennahda party, a move that was instantly criticized by the political formation, which described the arrest as an attack against opponents of the Tunisian president, Kais Saied.
This was confirmed by the lawyer and political activist Samir Dilo, as he told in an interview to the radio station Mosaique FM. Tunisian security forces have arrested Noureddine Bhiri after raiding his home.
Likewise, lawyer and politician Zahr al Akram has also been arrested this Monday, according to lawyer Samir Dilou, in a statement to Tunis Afrique news agency.
For his part, the leader of the Ennahda movement, Abdel Fattah al Tagouti, criticized what he considered an attack against opponents in Tunisia by President Kais Saied.
He also pointed out that the security forces had violently assaulted Bhiri’s wife and children, calling the arrests of dissidents and trade unionists a barbaric attack by the coup authority to liquidate its political opponents, abuse them and cover up economic failure.
These arrests come just a day after the Tunisian judiciary ordered the arrest of former president of the Court of Cassation Tayeb Ras and former prosecutor of first instance of the capital Al Bashir al Akrami, accusing both of having committed corruption offenses.
