The presidents of Iran and Belarus, Ebrahim Raisi and Alexander Lukashenko, respectively, have signed a «road map» of cooperation for the next three years, a document that began to take shape in the margins of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit held in 2021.

»You can trust us,» Lukashenko said after the signing of these agreements on Monday in Tehran, the Iranian capital. The document encompasses measures of political and economic cooperation, but also in education, science, culture, media and tourism, BelTA news agency reports.

It is gratifying that we have similar positions and approaches to many issues on the international agenda. The main thing is that Belarus and Iran are committed to the idea of building a fair multipolar world,» Lukashenko said.

Because Iran and Belarus are constant targets of Western economic sanctions, both leaders stressed the need to share their experiences in this regard in view of turning them into »opportunities,» the Iranian news agency IRNA reports.

»Unity between the two countries can help defuse sanctions (…) Iran is ready to share with Belarus its experiences,» said Raisi who assured that his country has managed to benefit from foreign sanctions by turning them into opportunities to increase economic activity in the country.
