At least two people have been killed and eight others injured Tuesday after a bomb attack in the Juzdar district of Balochistan province in western Pakistan.
The country’s foreign minister, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, described the incident as terrorist and said that the bomb was attached to a vehicle and detonated by a remote device, according to the Pakistani newspaper ‘Dawn’.
Zardari added that the government and the nation intend to eradicate terrorism, while pointing out that »those who attack innocent civilians have nothing to do with religion and cannot even be called human».
On the other hand, the governor of Balochistan, Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo, has asserted that »the plot to destabilize the province by sowing terror and chaos will be foiled». He also urged politicians to »stand united against the terrorists».
Since the 2000s, the region has had the presence of BLA guerrillas, considered a terrorist organization by Pakistan, the United Kingdom and the United States. Since then, it has fought a bloody struggle with the Islamabad authorities for the self-determination of Balochistan.
