An earthquake of magnitude 5.3 on the open Richter scale has shaken Thursday the Turkish province of Kahramanmaras (south), epicenter of the devastating earthquakes of February 6, which left more than 50,000 dead in Turkey and about 6,000 in Syria.
The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), under the Turkish Interior Ministry, has indicated on its account on the social network Twitter that the earthquake had its hypocenter at a depth of seven kilometers.
The earthquake was followed by several aftershocks, including one of magnitude 4, with no information so far on casualties or material damage. The head of AFAD, Yunus Sezer, said that for now »there are no negative situations» and stressed that »the analysis continues on the ground».
