Police in Italy arrested 49 suspected members of the ‘Ndrangheta mafia on Tuesday in a series of operations launched near the city of Milan, in the southern Italian region of Calabria.
The authorities have indicated that the detainees have links with this group and have pointed out that all of them are suspected of drug trafficking and extortion crimes, according to information from the newspaper ‘Corriere della Sera’.
The aim of the operation was to tackle a group of the ‘Ndrangheta mafia in the city of Rho, which is located northwest of Milan. Italian security forces regularly crack down on mafia organizations.
Also, Italian security forces and the Italian Financial Police have frozen assets valued at €40 million from several mafia-linked investment funds in the Calabria region.
