Russian authorities have confirmed the death of two civilians by «unidentified ammunition» in the Belgorod region bordering Ukraine, where Moscow on Monday extended the terror alert for another two weeks.
According to Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of Belgorod, the two civilians, a couple, died in the town of Staroselye, bordering the Ukrainian town of Hrabovsky, on his Telegram channel.
Gladkov said that the Russian authorities are already on the scene conducting the necessary investigations to clarify the incident, as reported by the TASS news agency.
The whole Belgorod region is under a state of emergency in response to the yellow level terror alert due to the high risk of Ukrainian attacks. Moscow on Monday extended the measure for another two weeks, until December 6.
The regions of Belgorod and its neighbor to the north, Kursk, have repeatedly denounced attacks by the Ukrainian army as part of the invasion launched on the orders of Russian President Vladimir Putin at the end of February.
