An earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale struck early Wednesday morning in the Turkish province of Duzce, 200 kilometers east of Istanbul, with no reports of casualties or material damage so far.
At around 4.30 a.m. (local time), an earthquake occurred in the northwest of the country, felt in the cities of Istanbul and Ankara, according to the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center.
Also, the hypocenter was located at a depth of about ten kilometers, according to Turkish authorities.
