Vitali Klitschko, mayor of the Ukrainian capital Kiev, has denounced on Wednesday new attacks against the city, which has once again set off anti-aircraft sirens in the framework of the Russian invasion of the territory.
The aide, who warned that several explosions have already been recorded, urged the population to «go to shelters» and noted that the air alert «continues». «They have hit civilian infrastructure in the capital,» he said.
This same Wednesday, the Ukrainian government has insisted that the attacks against the energy industry «will not help Russia to strengthen its positions». The Defense Ministry has thus indicated that such moves «will have no effect and will not slow down the advance of forces to liberate the temporarily occupied territories».
The Deputy Minister of Defense, Hanna Maliar, pointed out that the «vast majority of the enemy’s missiles have hit energy infrastructure» and pointed out that these attacks «are aimed at the civilian population», as reported by the Ukrinform news agency.
«This will not discourage the civilian population. The enemy is mistaken if it thinks that the destruction of these infrastructures will distract the Ukrainian forces and drive them away from the front in the east and south,» he said.
