Ukraine’s capital, Kiev, continues to suffer the ravages of recent Russian shelling of critical infrastructure and two days after the latest wave of attacks half of the homes are still without electricity and two-thirds are without heating.

Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitshcko updated the damage count on Telegram on Friday morning, assuring that work is continuing to restore basic supplies. Energy companies plan to reconnect electricity to all consumers in shifts, but only for three hours.

The water supply has been fully restored, although the lack of pressure prevents us from speaking of full normality for now, according to local authorities.

In Kiev and other cities affected by the power cuts, the authorities have set up emergency points where citizens can plug into a socket, for example to charge their cell phones, or to warm up.
