Iranian Foreign Minister Hosein Amirabdolahian has held a telephone conversation with his Turkish counterpart, Mevlut Cavusoglu, in which they discussed the «escalation of military tension» on the Turkish border with Syria.
According to Amirabdolahian, Iran understands Turkey’s concerns and its need to ease them (the tensions), although he said that to achieve that goal «continuous security dialogues between the two countries are needed,» IRNA news agency reported.
Likewise, the head of Iranian diplomacy has maintained that military operations «not only cannot solve any of the problems», but also create losses and «further complicate the situation».
In this sense, Amirabdolahian has shown Iran’s readiness to offer «any contribution to the peaceful solution» of the problems between the two countries.
For his part, the Turkish Foreign Minister spoke about his country’s position on the issue and thanked Iran for its «constructive approach», assuring that consultations between the two countries «should continue», Anadolu reported.
