Organizations and social movements have begun to mobilize this Tuesday in different parts of the city of Buenos Aires, the Argentine capital, in support of the vice-president, Cristina Fernández, a few hours before the verdict against her in the so-called ‘Vialidad’ case, which could lead to a sentence of up to twelve years in prison, is announced.

The vice-president’s followers speak of «political persecution» against the ‘number two’ of the president, Alberto Fernández, in the framework of the trial for defrauding the State by means of the concession of public works in Santa Cruz.

The sentence against Fernandez and other twelve accused in the same case will be known this Tuesday, although the Argentinean politicians continue asking for the acquittal because they consider that there is no evidence of any crime whatsoever.

Thus, the State Workers Association (ATE) has decided to call a vigil from 5:00 p.m. (local time) in front of the doors of the union «to accompany the alternatives of the ruling against Cristina Fernandez and to mobilize in case of a conviction and an attempt of proscription by the judicial party».

In addition, they have asked to exhaust «all possible instances of articulation with other unions and organizations of the popular field in order to express, in a united manner, the repudiation of any attempt to convict the Vice-President in the judicial farce», as stated in a communiqué published by the Telam news agency.

In the same line, the Union of Road and Related Workers (STVyARA), headed by Graciela Aleñá, plans to march to the federal courts of Comodoro Py to reject what they consider a «political persecution».

«A sector of the justice system, which responds to Macrismo and the big media, set up a case without evidence and hopes to convict Cristina Fernánez», said Aleñá.

In addition, workers of the Legislative Staff Association (APL) have announced rallies next to the Congress of the Nation in solidarity with the vice-president since this morning.

Fernández explained on Monday in an interview with the Brazilian newspaper ‘Folha de Sao Paulo’ that on December 7 the newspapers will carry on their front page: «Cristina, condemned». In fact, she considers that her foreseeable conviction will be a «gift» for the head of Grupo Clarín, Héctor Magnetto, whom she implicates in a political, media and judicial plot which, in her opinion, has the sole purpose of discrediting her politically.
