The Ukrainian Embassy in Romania reported Tuesday that it has received several envelopes with suspicious contents in what is now more than twenty such alerts and threats against Ukrainian diplomatic legations in European Union countries.

The Romanian Security Service has indicated in a statement that specialized teams have gone to the Embassy after receiving a phone call reporting the presence of «suspicious» envelopes.

It explained that a unit of explosives experts are studying the envelopes in question as the Bucharest Police ensure security around the Embassy headquarters, which is cordoned off.

The spokesman of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Oleg Nikolenko, has denounced that there are already more than 20 threats of this type received against diplomatic headquarters in at least twelve countries.

On Monday, the Spanish police intercepted three envelopes also addressed to Ukrainian legations in the country and allegedly containing animal eyes. On this occasion, in addition to being addressed to the Embassy of the country, another shipment has also been detected to the consulate in Barcelona and Malaga, according to police sources.
