The Belarusian Army contingent deployed this week around the city of Brest, in the southwest of the country, has advanced on Tuesday towards the border with Ukraine in the midst of Russia’s invasion.
Project Hajun, a group monitoring military activity in Belarus, has indicated on its Telegram channel that information about advances by the 38th Assault Brigade deployed in Brest has been recorded. Now, the contingent has advanced towards the Ukrainian border adjoining the Volhynian region.
The military is moving towards the town of Malorita, 13 kilometers from the border, and the town of Mokrani, just three kilometers from the border. Some of the equipment moved includes amphibious vehicles, armored vehicles with personnel on board, mortars, MZKT military vehicles, an ambulance and two water tankers, among others.
On Monday morning, the Belarusian Defense Ministry announced the start of a series of maneuvers to test the Belarusian forces’ ability to react in the event of armed conflict.
In addition, last December 7, the Belarusian government announced the transfer of military equipment in an attempt to deal with an alleged «anti-terrorist threat» against the country, while confirming the participation of the Russian Army in «tactical» operations on Belarusian soil.
