The Polisario Front representative to Europe and the European Union, Oubi Bachir, has resigned because of «deep disagreements» with the leader of the formation, Brahim Ghali, although he will remain in his post until mid-January 2023.
Bachir explained on his Twitter profile that he has taken this «difficult decision» because of «deep discrepancies» with Ghali in terms of «vision» and «methods». «I will continue in the body where the people elected me until it is dissolved,» he has said.
«Resignation is a responsible act and its demonization in our political culture is one of the reasons for the lack of renewal and communication,» he has explained, adding that the mistake would be to «cling» to the post knowing that it is not possible to «assume responsibility.»
Although Bachir assured that his intention is not to run again for the General Secretariat of the Polisario, his candidacy is automatic because he is part of it. «The independence of the Sahara is unstoppable. For this ideal I will continue to fight until the last breath of my life», he concluded.
