Twenty-three-year-old student Patrick Thelwell has been charged with an alleged offense of «threatening behavior» for throwing eggs at England’s King Charles III during his visit to the northern city of York on November 9.
«The Crown Prosecution Service recalls that all criminal proceedings against Patrick Thelwell are active and that he has the right to a fair trial,» stressed the head of the special crime and counter-terrorism section of the Crown Prosecution Service, Nick Price, quoted by Sky News.
Thelwell will appear in court on January 20 for an alleged offence under Section 4 of the Public Order Act 1986 for throwing up to four eggs, none of which hit the monarch. The suspect was immediately arrested by security forces.
On December 6, eggs were again thrown near the king during a visit to Luton without any hitting the monarch. A 28-year-old man has been charged with a public order offense.
