Venezuela’s opposition National Assembly has terminated Juan Guaidó’s mandate as interim president, following recent criticism received for failing to achieve the goals envisioned by those who elevated him in 2019.
The session of the National Assembly had been first proposed for Thursday, although it was postponed to January 3 «attending the criteria of the members of the board of directors and deputies» and in the interest of achieving a greater consensus.
With this decision, the Venezuelan opposition has put an end to the mandate of a Guaidó who in recent weeks had been criticized by some of the parties opposed to the country’s president, Nicolás Maduro, for considering that, after almost four years, he had not fulfilled the expected objectives.
