At least ten dead and eight wounded after an early morning explosion near the main gate of Kabul International Airport in Afghanistan, with no claim of responsibility for the attack so far.
A spokesman for the Interior Ministry of the Taliban-installed authorities in Afghanistan, Abdul Nafay Takoor, reported the explosion, which occurred at around 8.00 a.m. local time, according to the Khaama news agency.
At the moment there is no claim of responsibility for the attack, although similar explosions in the capital are usually carried out by the jihadist group Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP), which considers the Taliban traitors to the orthodoxy of the ‘sharia’ or Islamic law and defend a much harsher interpretation.
In fact, the jihadist group claimed responsibility for an attack on December 12 on a hotel in the Afghan capital, Kabul, in which at least 30 people were killed or wounded. The attack was condemned by UN Secretary General António Guterres.
