U.S. President Joe Biden on Wednesday called the stalemate in the House of Representatives «shameful» after the vote was repeated up to five times due to a lack of consensus on the Republican side.
«We’re the greatest country in the world – how can that be? And we’ve already had a lot of problems with attacks on our institutions,» the U.S. president recalled, adding that he is «obviously» concerned about the blockage in the House, as reported by CNN.
Shortly after these statements, the House of Representatives has begun its sixth round of voting in which the Republican leader, Kevin McCarthy, does not seem to have won enough support within his party, pending final results.
Biden also weighed in earlier in the day on Wednesday, asserting that the delay in the election is «embarrassing.» «The rest of the world is watching,» said Biden, in statements to the media in which, however, he avoided assessing the internal discrepancies in his political rivals. «It’s not my problem,» he said.
