
Japanese health authorities have confirmed Sunday at least 407 deaths from coronavirus during the last 24 hours, in line with the record number of deaths that has been recorded for days and that, according to experts, could worsen in the coming weeks.
The Japanese Ministry of Health has confirmed 407 deaths, thirty of them in the capital, Tokyo, and another 190,000 new infections since Saturday as part of the eighth wave of infections since the declaration of the pandemic, according to the Japanese public broadcaster NHK.
The country has been moving for several days above 400 deaths per day.
With these deaths, Japan has now exceeded 60,000 total deaths since the declaration of the pandemic, 10,000 of them in the last month alone, according to estimates by the official Japanese news agency, Kyodo.
