The Malian Army has reported that 14 military personnel have been killed and eleven wounded in two attacks earlier this week in the center of the country by Islamist militiamen operating in the area.
In both cases, the attacks occurred when the vehicles of the Armed Forces in which the troops were traveling were ambushed, as indicated by the Army in a statement in which it has clarified that the attacks have been recorded in Kumara and Macina.
«The Army General Staff conveys its condolences to the families and comrades of the brave soldiers who died fighting and wishes a speedy recovery to the wounded,» the document states.
It also noted that among the «enemy ranks» at least 31 militiamen have been killed and one wounded.
The increase in violence has led the authorities to deploy reinforcements given the growing number of victims at the hands of militiamen and terrorists.
