The president of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Felix Tshisekedi, has dismissed Fortunat Biselele, his private advisor, who will be replaced by Kahumbu Mandungu Bula, in a series of changes announced within his cabinet.
Specifically, the presidential spokesperson will become Tina Salama, who until now served as deputy spokesperson for the head of state. These changes follow the announcement of the reshuffle of the government of the Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Sama Lukonde, on the eve of the elections of December 2023.
Tshisekedi’s influential private advisor was present at all the peace negotiations in eastern DRC and was also the main transmission belt between the power in Kinshasa and Kigali, as reported Monday by the news portal Actualité.
On the other hand, Serge Tshibangu has been confirmed as responsible for the follow-up of the main peace processes in the DRC and has been appointed High Representative for the follow-up of the Luanda roadmap and the Nairobi process.
The changes, which were implemented on Sunday, account for the internal tension within his cabinet, all the more so as Biselele has appeared before the National Intelligence Agency (ANR), while his residence has also been searched after being arrested, Radio France Internationale has learned.
In December, three ministers left the cabinet to join the candidacy of prominent Congolese politician Moise Katumbi, who announced in mid-December his intention to face Tshisekedi in the upcoming elections.
