Chinese health authorities have confirmed at least 13,000 deaths related to the coronavirus, according to the latest official death toll between January 13 and 19.
Of the deceased, 681 patients died in hospital from respiratory failure caused by the virus while 11,977 died from aggravation of previous pathologies due to COVID-19, according to the country’s Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
As of January 19, there are 472,000 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in China, including some 51,700 in serious condition, according to the CDC balance sheet, reported by the official China News Service.
This balance is released after the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China announced Saturday that group travel for tourism purposes will resume from next February 6 to 20 countries.
Group travel by Chinese citizens, organized by travel agencies and online tour operators, will again be allowed as part of China’s policy to relax its restrictions against the coronavirus pandemic.
