
Former Peruvian President Pedro Castillo has warned that those responsible for the deaths during the protests «will soon show their faces», specifying that «the day of justice» for the Peruvian people is approaching.
«The day of justice for our people is approaching. Those responsible for this massacre will soon show their faces,» said the former president in a message on the social network Twitter.
According to Castillo, they will have to face charges for crimes against humanity and «their mafia press will not be able to save them». «Peru, with firm steps, is forging its liberation and is one step away from the Constituent (Assembly),» he added.
The former Peruvian president has written this message from the Barbadillo prison, where he is preventively imprisoned for his attempt to dissolve the Parliament and declare a government of exception at the beginning of December, in a maneuver labeled as a «coup d’état» by the Peruvian authorities.
From that moment on, thousands of supporters of the former president took to the streets of Peru to demand the calling of new elections and the resignation of Boluarte, until then Castillo’s «number two» and who ascended to the Presidency after his arrest.
