The Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have reported that Rwandan officers who are part of the East African Community (EAC) regional force have been «on the verge of leaving» Congolese soil, which is why it has ordered their departure.
Following this fact, the DRC government has ordered the commander of the EAC regional force to repatriate to his country the Rwandan officers who are part of the force headquarters based in Goma, capital of North Kivu province, according to an army communiqué.
«The latter have already left Congolese soil and returned to Rwanda», reads the letter, in which it is detailed that, with this decision, Rwanda would have withdrawn all its officials belonging to the regional mechanisms based in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
