The President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, will travel this Wednesday afternoon to France for an official visit in which he will meet with his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, as confirmed to Europa Press by sources from the Elysee, a trip he will make from London, where he is currently holding meetings with the British authorities.
«The President of the Republic will receive in Paris the President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, and the Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, this Wednesday, February 8, 2023,» these sources have pointed out.
Zelenski flew to London earlier in the day and has already held a meeting with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who announced the expansion of his support for Kiev, including the inclusion of military aircraft pilots and marines in its training programs. He then gave a speech to the British Parliament in which he thanked London for its support, after which he will meet with Charles III.
The Ukrainian president had so far made only one visit abroad since the outbreak of the war. He traveled to the United States on December 21, where he met with the President of the United States, Joe Biden, and gave a speech to Congress. On his return, he stopped in Poland for a meeting with his Polish counterpart, Andrzej Duda, before arriving in Kiev.
Although there is no official confirmation so far, Zelenski is expected to travel to Brussels on Thursday, coinciding with a summit of heads of state and government of the EU-27, in what would be the first visit to Europe by the president since the beginning of the war, a few weeks before the first anniversary of the Russian aggression. European sources consulted by Europa Press claim «security reasons» to avoid a direct answer and explain that they can neither «confirm nor deny» the information.
