U.S. actor Tom Sizemore, known for his roles in films such as ‘Heat’ and ‘Saving Private Ryan,’ died Friday night after weeks in the hospital after suffering a brain aneurysm, his spokesman confirmed to CNN.

The news of the death comes just a day after the family released a statement in which they announced that they had to decide »end-of-life issues» of the actor, all after doctors acknowledged that there was no more hope for his life.

»Today, doctors informed his family that there is no more hope and have recommended a decision to end his life. The family is now deciding end-of-life issues and a further statement will be issued on Wednesday,» his statement, picked up by the aforementioned network, read.

Sizemore, 61, of Detroit, reached the height of his career in the 1990s and 2000s with roles in ‘Natural Born Killers,’ ‘Stranger Days’ and ‘Pearl Harbor.’ However, he is famously known for playing Mike Horvath in the World War II film ‘Saving Private Ryan’.

In addition, he was nominated for a Golden Globe in 2000 for Best Performance by an Actor in a Miniseries or Television Movie for his role in ‘Witness Protection’. More recently, he appeared in episodes of the television series ‘Twin Peaks’ or ‘Cobra Kai’.

Sizemore struggled for a long time with drug addiction and throughout his career he faced a litany of legal problems. He was convicted in 2003 on domestic violence charges following an assault accusation brought by his former fiancée, Heidi Fleiss.
