British composer Monty Norman, best known as the author of the James Bond theme, died Monday at the age of 94 after an illness.

«It is with regret that we share the news that Monty Norman has passed away on July 11, 2022 after a short illness,» the musician’s official website has published.

Norman composed the iconic theme for the first James Bond film, 1962’s ‘Dr. No’, a film starring Sean Connery and Ursula Andress. The theme has been used in all 24 subsequent James Bond films.

Norman began his career singing until he began composing for musicals and films. He also collaborated with comedian Benny Hill on tours of the UK.
