
Federal prosecutors who had announced a foreign interference investigation against former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani have announced the closure of the process without filing charges.
Giuliani was being investigated for his efforts in Ukraine to try to politically benefit former President Donald Trump, according to the details of the investigation, now closed.
«The government is writing to notify the court that the grand jury investigation that led to the issuance of the above-referenced warrants has concluded and that based on the information currently available, no criminal charges will be filed,» they said, according to CNN.
Giuliani’s lawyer, Robert Costello, stressed the importance of the news. «It’s wonderful, long-awaited news. Unfortunately Mayor Giuliani has had to spend two and a half years with this cloud over his head,» he recalled.
